Neuromatch Academy Slow Pod
A self-paced cohort organized by Orthogonal Research and Education Lab (OREL) around Neuromatch Academy's computational neuroscience curriculum.
The Neuromatch Academy - Computational Neuroscience Slow Pod was an auxiliary, self-paced cohort organized in 2020 by the Orthogonal Research and Education Laboratory (OREL) around Neuromatch Academy (NMA)‘s computational neuroscience summer course, active predominantly during 2021-2022. It supported participants who wanted to work through the curriculum asynchronously, outside the synchronous intensive format, with collaborative notes, topical “Epistemological Directories,” and shared student work.
The pod operated through a shared GitHub repository and coordinated discussion via Slack and Keybase. It served as an early example of OREL’s lightweight cohort-based programs around external curricula. Several OREL members particpated in NMA coursework, and would later be involved as project mentors, professional development mentors, and curriculum development for various Neuromatch programs.
