Overview

From Here to There: Strategy & Mentoring for Innovators (FHTT) is a JOPRO initiative. The project is designed to explore leadership, mentoring, and strategic decision-making in research, innovation, and the development of emerging fields.

FHTT is developed from a series of mentoring practices and research leadership experiences at the Orthogonal Research and Education Laboratory (OREL), expanded through JOPRO’s broader mission to support interdisciplinary innovation, and through its leaders’ decades of experience in leading innovation teams in academic, private, and public settings.

FHTT also originated as part of Jesse Parent’s capstone project at the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute in the School of Computing, Information and Data Science at the University of California, San Diego.

Directors’ Table is a forthcoming discussion series under FHTT, bringing together experienced mentors leading innovation spaces on managing open science against private-sector needs, educational practice both conventional and cutting-edge, and how those directing labs and communities of practice maintain functionality and cultivate the means for multidisciplinary work to happen. It is co-produced with the Orthogonal Research and Education Laboratory, and will run alongside the other public sessions JOPRO convenes.
