Deliberative Methodology Intern

Futures Center / Steelmanning the Problem Space

Support the development of the Steelmanning the Problem Space methodology, a structured approach to defining and charitably representing problem spaces before formal debate. The intern would contribute to the annotated bibliography, help design workshop materials, and potentially co-facilitate a pilot SMSP session.

If the Mozilla Foundation Democracy & AI connection develops, this position could expand to include work on the "Shared Terrain" project concept. The methodology and working paper draft already exist; the intern would help formalize and test it.

What you'll do

• Contribute to the annotated bibliography on deliberative methodology
• Help design workshop materials for SMSP facilitation
• Co-facilitate a pilot SMSP session
• Document the pilot session process and outcomes
• Draft a workshop facilitation guide

Who this is for

Students in philosophy, rhetoric, deliberative democracy, conflict resolution, political theory, or related fields. Interest in structured argumentation and charitable representation of opposing views is essential.
