Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

JOPRO recognizes the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion. It's not just a concept; it demands active implementation and ongoing commitment to value and welcome each community member and their unique experiences and perspectives, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, neurotypicality, and religion, among other attributes.

The staff is committed to creating and maintaining a research environment that respects each person that becomes a part of our organization — one that values, honors, and embraces each person's background and experiences. As a remote and asynchronous organization, we are committed to ensuring that our work environment remains inclusive and supportive for all members, with an emphasis on catering to different time schedules and accommodations when possible.

We strive to ensure accessibility and equity in opportunities, resources, and support for each member. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and constant reflection on our practices and policies, we aim to build a community where everyone can thrive.

A statement from JOPRO co-founders

Our leadership understands individuals' embodiments and circumstances vary widely, and that we live in a world with varying degrees of understanding and acceptance of these facets of experience. We encourage open communication about any factors at play in your life that may affect the way you show up in our organization, while respecting your right and discretion about what you choose to disclose.

The founding administrative team of JOPRO, in our own personal lived experiences, have encountered invisible illnesses, intergenerational trauma, neurodiversity, ableism, racial and cultural bias, among other factors. While acknowledging our own imperfections, we seek to create and maintain environments and interactions that make space for diverse experience, while contributing to a more robustly just world — informed by, and not turning away from — the reality of what has shaped the world and the diverse experiences it contains.
