JOPRO Student Chapter (Interest)

This is an interest list, not a program. We want to know who is out there and what they would want to run before we commit to a model for what a JOPRO chapter is.

We are saying that plainly because the alternative is worse. A chapter structure announced before the support behind it exists is how local groups start with enthusiasm and go quiet by the third month. We would rather build the thing around the people who turn up than hand you a template that does not fit your institution.

If you respond early, you have real influence over what this becomes.

These are possibilities, not tiers, and you are not choosing from a menu. They are here to show the range.

A reading group. The narrowest version, and the one we can support well today. You convene people around material JOPRO already works with, and we supply reading lists, a point of contact, and a line into the relevant working group.

A session series. You host talks or discussions, occasionally with someone from JOPRO or a partner organization joining remotely.

Something larger. A standing presence at your institution that recruits locally and runs its own events. We are interested in this, and we are not going to pretend the infrastructure behind it is finished.

Honestly stated, so you can judge whether it is enough:

• Reading lists and materials from our working groups
• A named point of contact who answers
• Connection to the working group closest to your interest
• Access to our community Discord, where you can find other people doing this

What we do not yet have is funding, a chapter handbook, or organizer training. If those are what you need to make this work at your institution, tell us — knowing that is useful.

Students, postgraduates, and early career researchers at any institution, anywhere. Faculty and staff who want to host or sponsor a group are also welcome to get in touch.

You do not need a group already assembled, and you do not need permission from your institution before you write to us. If you have either, say so — it changes what is possible and how fast.
