Volunteer Co-Organizer — ACM NYCWiC 2027

Society Ethics Tech / ACM NYCWiC 2027

The ACM New York Celebration of Women in Computing (NYCWiC) is a regional conference dedicated to empowering women and their allies in computing through networking, learning, and celebrating contributions to the field. The JOPRO community has been a participant and supporter of NYCWiC since 2019.

NYCWiC 2027 is now in planning, and the organizing committee is recruiting volunteer **co-organizers** to help shape the next conference. This is a more substantive opportunity than day-of conference volunteering: co-organizers participate in the year-long planning process, take ownership of a working area (program, logistics, sponsorship, communications, student engagement, etc.), and help set the direction for the 2027 event.

This is a great fit for people who want hands-on experience running a regional conference, want to deepen their connection to the women-in-computing community across New York State, or are looking to grow into broader leadership roles in academic / professional convening.

If you're interested, reach out and we'll connect you with the NYCWiC organizing committee.

What you'll do

  • Join the NYCWiC 2027 organizing committee and contribute to year-long planning
  • Take ownership of (or co-lead) a working area: program, logistics, sponsorship, communications, student engagement, accessibility, or another track based on your interests
  • Participate in periodic planning meetings (typically virtual) leading up to the conference

  • Support on-site execution during the conference itself
