Human-AI Teaming Study in Minecraft (MIT)

The study explores the dynamics of human-AI teaming using Minecraft as a testbed for mental model alignment between humans and agent teammates. Sessions are run in person at the Beaver Works Research Lab (BRL) in Cambridge.
**Study details**
- **Task:** Partner with an AI teammate on a custom Minecraft mission. - **Location:** In-person at the BRL — 400 Main Street (MIT Building E19), Suite 435, Cambridge, MA 02142. - **Time commitment:** 1–2 hours. - **Compensation:** $20 Amazon gift card upon completion.
**Eligibility**
- Experienced Minecraft player (comfortable with building mechanics). - Able to attend an in-person session at the lab. - 18+ and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (required to receive payment). - Curious about human-AI collaboration.
The research team is also happy to chat with anyone interested in measuring trust, fluency, and mental model alignment in human-AI teams.
What you'll do
- Visit the Beaver Works Research Lab on the MIT campus for a single in-person session
- Partner with an AI teammate on a custom Minecraft mission designed by the research team
- Help the MIT LL team study mental model alignment, trust, and fluency in human-AI teaming
- Receive a $20 Amazon gift card on completion
Who this is for
Experienced Minecraft players (comfortable with building mechanics) who can attend an in-person session in Cambridge, MA. Must be 18+ and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to receive compensation. Curiosity about human-AI collaboration is a plus.
